Google looks towards indexing your telephone calls

So, Google.com the ever growing Search Engine, not content with encroaching into your emails with it’s gmail service, is now looking to get hold of you telephone-calls as well.

Cue the very quiet launch of Google Talk at www.google.com/talk


Pushed as a “skype-beater” what it actually turns out to be is a cut-down Jabber client with the voice module included. No fancy features as yet, but it’s still in BETA at the moment.

Whats more suprising is the press coverage the tiny little piece of cr@pware is getting …

Dutifully I downloaded it, signed in with my never-used gmail address (you have to have an @gmail.com email address to use GoogleTalk - tested it out and ….

Then uninstalled it. For standard IM the MSN client is much more impressive, and for voice I’ll stick to VOIP - nice try Google but in true school-report format you get
