Going Green, Recycling, Planting trees and Reducing Carbon
Carbon Dioxide emissions are thought to be a contributor to the (as yet unproven) Green House Effect and something many people are worried about.Despite scientists spending half of the last 30 years trying to convince us of a 2nd Ice-Age on its way, they’re now claiming the exact opposite.
We have no idea which of the 2 extremes are correct or even if either of them are remotely possible. We do however know that the quality of air (and overall level of Oxygen) in the UK is continually dropping.
This is largely to do with recycling. You can forget most of what the slightly strange and mostly brain-dead green brigade will tell you – recycling is BAD.
Well, ok, I’ll admit to recycling of some materials is bad, and of others quite useful (recycling the chemical stew which is plastic is a GOOD IDEA).
Why is smog on the way back in the UK ?
Why are breathing disorders (often incorrectly called asthma) on the rise ?
Because of the ever increasing levels of sh!te in the air, relative to the amount of what we poor humans require to breathe – Oxygen (O2).
Trees grow at an alarming rate, especially in the first 10 years of their existance.
Now, basic chemistry 101 … what are trees made out of ?
Wood, Leaves, Bark – all clever answers, but chemically what are they all constructed from …
Yes, CARBON
And where does said tree get all that bulky carbon ? Correct, from CO2 (Carbon Dioxide).
And when you take out the Carbon from CO2 what do you get left ?
Another correct answer … the O2 part … Oxygen.
An average softwood tree will displace 1 tonne of carbon in its first 10 years, and another half a tonne over the next 30.
So cutting down a tree at aged 10 and planing another, repeating again 10 years later, and again 10 years after that, would release 4 tonnes of O2, but not cutting down the tree and leaving it for the 40 years woud only release 1.5 tonnes.
Ergo, it shouldn’t take a genius to realise that cutting down (relatively young) trees is a GOOD IDEA (as long as you’re planting new ones)
Now, back to the science lesson …
What is PAPER made out of … come on, its not that difficult, there’s been at least 1 episode of the Tweenies about it …
Wood Pulp.
Which comes from … Wood,
Which comes from … Trees,
Which as we already know, comes from CARBON.
So, know you have all the facts needed to make a logical deduction … is recycling paper a good thing …
NO ! Because it means they dont need to cut down trees for wood pulp, and therefore aren’t planting any new trees (paper manufacture has ALWAYS been heavily regulated, as well as self sustaining – they actually FARM trees, which when done on the scale of modern paper production significantly increases the quality of the atmosphere worldwide!)
Oh, people lacking in any intelligence whatsoever will harp on about deforestation of amazonian rainforests.
These complete fvckwits obviously havent twigged the simple fact that rainforest is hardwood (thats why it makes such good furniture) and paper is softwood.
Major changes will occur in our life time unless we all take action now. say the politicians.
I totall agree, if we all do our best to knock-off a green-activist, just imagine the quantity of oxygen for those that have working grey-matter we’d save.
